Happy Mother's Day: Be Salty, & Stay Lit!

Updated: May 8

Scott and I were at "Homey Depot" the other day. He was wearing a T-shirt with Val Kilmer with the Caption "Say When" on it that my brother gave him. RIP Val. I was wearing a T-shirt that says "Be Salty, stay Lit". Someone in the store said to Scott, "Hey, I like your shirt" and I said "what about mine". He read it and said "isn't that a Bible Verse”? “Yes, it is," I replied and I shared what it meant, something like “Jesus teaches us in the Book of Matthew 5:13-15 that “we are to bring out God-flavors and to shine for God”. He listened and seemed interested.

Once we got into the car, I pulled up the Bible App to read the NIV Translation and the Message translation aloud. I really like the message translation and we started chatting

about our calling to Be Salt and Light. Words of encouragement, acts of kindness, sharing what God asks and being excited to share are all gifts of love. “When we get to eternity, we might be surprised how much the small things mattered the most as Heaven’s riches are unlocked by small acts done with great amounts of love”.

The next day, I was chatting with a girlfriend who shared some devastating news. I let her know that I would be praying and she thanked me for listening. I shared that I was a Stephen Minister, a trained caregivers who provide care by listening, encouraging, praying, and walking alongside individuals facing life challenges”. She was thankful and shared that was what I did for her.

I love how God is using Steven Ministry and how I can still serve in the ministry. Starting today, May 5, 2025 and every day at 11:45 AM Eastern time, my alarm will go off and I will be praying for friends that are struggling with their health, and praying for friends that are caring for their mothers that are declining mentally. If you or your Mother struggles with intrusive thoughts, I will be asking God to grant His peace. For the strength to reject thoughts and memories that do not align with God's truth and for a mindset filled with His promises and love. If you need encouragement or would like to be added, please dm me. We all need to ask for prayer and develop healthy mental habits and meditate on things that are true, lovely, and admirable. May the Holy Spirit work to transform your hearts and minds so you can leave each day with clarity and peace.

In Honor of Mother's Day, here is a prayer from my beautiful friend Joyce Christian, a fellow Stephen Minister, lovely friend and prayer partner. “Our Gracious Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of Mother’s those precious ones who love, nurture, and guide us with grace. We praise You for the strength and wisdom You give to mothers and ask Your blessing on all who embrace the role with a heart full of love. May your love surround them, Your wisdom guide them and Your peace fill their hearts. We honor and thank You for the mothers in our lives” In Jesus’ Precious name, Amen.

A special Happy Mother's Day to my Mommy, May Mildred Kimball. She was born in 1934 and was ushered back into heaven in 1992. I miss her all of the time. I hope this day is amazing for you and know I will see you again. I pray it is getting closer as I see the days approaching and know in my bones Heaven is not the destination, it is the starting point!

PS - one of my friends Mom is in her early 80s, starting to decline cognitively and is imagining things. She is now taking "Memantine" - a medication primarily used to treat moderate to severe dementia associated with Alzheimer's disease. Her daughter thinks it is helping.

Here's a breakdown of key information:

Memantine is an N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist. It works by regulating the activity of glutamate, a neurotransmitter that can contribute to neurodegeneration when overactive, particularly in Alzheimer's.

If this blesses you, please subscribe, like and share and again, if you need prayer, say when
