Hate Stirs Conflict, Love Covers

Proverbs. Hate stirs conflict. Love covers. It's that simple. However, context is still key.

Last year I posted on my LinkedIn Profile the word of 2023 was Love.

Shortly after I launched my new website: www.coveritwithlove.com hired a web designer, started creating merchandise and social feeds to promote. The funny thing was that the site, what I intended to do with the site and the message was clear to me. Not to anyone else until I started to explain, to share what was obvious to me, to give context.

As I drive to Hill Country Indoors this morning, I look over to the ball cap I am often seen wearing with the Logo I generated online with some logo building tools. I heard the roommate in my head repeat to me that people don’t see what you see unless they can see it. So here it is. Why Coveritiwithlove and what do I do?

The way I see it, we all have a deep yearning, to be seen, to be heard, to be understood and to be loved. Isn’t that what all of the songs are about?  When Jesus Christ was asked what the greatest commandment was, Jesus responded: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind”. This is the first and greatest commandment and the second is like it “Love your neighbor as yourself”.

The only reason I love is because I was loved first. First by the creator of the universe when he knitted me into my Mother’s womb when two loving people decided to add to their family. Like life, the journey of life with three children began and like life’s twists, turns, ups and downs it was not always a pleasant destination. It was however, a colorful tapestry back to the source of love and the creator of the universe.

You might be saying okay, I get it, love, what about the cover?

Cover is putting LOVE into Action. Our Friend Bob Goff in his best selling book Love Does, Bob shares a collection of stories from his life that illustrate his belief in the power of love and action. He begins by recounting his childhood, where he learned the importance of taking risks and embracing adventure.

The only thing I can remember my earthly father sharing with me were hugs, kisses and this one life long lesson I still carry with me, “actions speak louder than words”.

My heavenly Father taught me what undeserving sacrificial love looks like in the life of His Holy Word. His Son Jesus Christ exemplified this love. The writer of many books of the New Testament, Paul, a persecutor of Christians turned apostle, teaches us God gives us armor against evil and the spiritual battle all believers find themselves subject to, because they are no longer on evil’s side. One of those pieces of armor is a helmet, the helmet of salvation. A head “covering” of love. The devil wants us to doubt our loving God and his promises. The helmet protects our minds from doubting God’s saving work. It is a choice on our part to put on, to cover.

Picture the act of putting on a headcovering. To take an action in protecting our thoughts, developing a healthy mindset, to develop a deep personal relationship with the author and finisher of love and believe Him and what He teaches over what today’s culture would have you worship, bow down to and trust or the random thoughts that simply fall on our head all of the time. We need the weight of a covering.

Wait for God. Dwell on the thoughts that come from God.

Coveritwithlove COVER IT WITH LOVE is a lifestyle, a conscious contemplation and commitment of how we should live. For me, it is to place Love as one of my highest thoughts and put it into action. The way I do that is through the daily renewal of my mind spending time with my Father and yielding to His voice. I will work as though I am working for Him. To give back to groups and ministries He has equipped me to help, to graciously accept the assignment and point back to Him!

I hope to hear from you and thank you for reading my first blog.
